Angus McKay Students Visit Mayor

Five students from Angus McKay school—Piper, Sam, Jonathan, Amelia E., and Amelia D.—were invited to visit City Hall and meet Mayor Scott Gillingham on May 5 as the result of a Winnipeg 150 in the classroom project they worked on and excelled at.

About the project, The City of Winnipeg said:

“As we reflect on our past and look ahead to our future, The City of Winnipeg has developed, Winnipeg 150 in the classroom. This resource provides teachers and students an opportunity to explore our city’s history, and in celebration of Winnipeg 150, we created a special coin just for Winnipeg youth.”

The city provided activities, worksheets, and challenges for students in different grades levels. The Angus McKay students each created their own vision of a new city crest, along with an explanation of their choices, and were presented with specially made Winnipeg 150 coins as awards and mementos of their experience.

Congratulations to the Angus McKay students on their accomplishment!
